About Us
Why we started
Autism advocacy was founded to help individuals on the autism spectrum, as well as their families and carers, enjoy the opportunities of the community in which they live.
The Challenge
Few people in society understand autism and even fewer realise the challenges and limitations people with autism face due to social stigma and barriers in society.
The Charity & Founder
Autism Advocacy is a charity that aims to build an inclusive society for individuals and their families. It was founded by a Parent Carer of an autistic child.
“I am Naveeda Asif, the founder of Autism Advocacy. As a parent of an autistic child, I and many parents I know personally have felt that our society lacks awareness about the autism spectrum and how it can affect individuals and their families. Our loved ones have had to face stigma and daily challenges because of this lack of awareness. This is why I founded Autism Advocacy. We aim to raise awareness of autism and reduce stigma. We want to empower individuals to overcome barriers and support businesses and schools to be more welcoming and understanding. It is my hope that the city of Bristol can become more inclusive and autism-friendly so that all of us can enjoy what our city has to offer. “
